Get up close to what’s inside your ears, shout louder than anyone else, use a wobble board to find out how important your ears are for balance and invent gadgets to help people hear at the next Pi: Platform for Investigation – Powered by Siemens event at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Pi: Your Amazing Ears is full of hands-on activities to help find out how we hear the world around us, how we can protect our hearing and how we can learn to communicate with sign language.

With a little help from the expert researchers at the University of Manchester, visitors can discover all about the science of our ears in a fun and interactive way.

Step into the portable singing booth to see how high you can get the sound meter to reach, discover what ear wax is actually for, look inside a giant ear and find out about inventions that have helped people to hear in the past, then design products that can help people hear in the future.

Pi: Platform for Investigation – Powered by Siemens is a monthly event where families discover cutting edge research that’s happening right now in and around Manchester and the North West.

Each month our partners from universities, research centres and other organisations take over our purpose-built high-tech platform, complete with computer ports and experiment tables, to introduce visitors of all ages to important innovations via conversation and fun.
