Get stuck in to your senses as Operation Ouch! returns for another world premiere exhibition at the Science and Industry Museum.
Journey through an ear canal covered in gooey wax, squeeze past sticky snot and plunge headfirst into the incredible world of our senses in Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You—a major new exhibition for children and families premiering at the Science and Industry Museum in 2025.
Tickets are on sale now for the exhibition, which will open on 14 February 2025 and run until 4 January 2026, giving visitors the chance to delve deeper into how our brains interpret the world and take a playful romp through the senses, testing their own along the way. Video appearances from Dr Chris, Dr Xand and Dr Ronx from the hit BBC Children's and Education TV series Operation Ouch! will pop up throughout the exhibition to help visitors understand more about the science behind the fun.
Prepare for an epic exploration of the senses—visitors will enter Dr Chris's brain headquarters through his giant ear, making sure to dodge the earwax! Venture through the five senses of touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste with full on fun and hands-on science experiences—as well as discovering some of the secret senses that help us with our balance, know when it's time to sleep, and even when to go for a wee.
Poke around inside a giant eyeball, get stuck in with interactive games and find out how our sensory experiences can vary from children who are living with disabilities. Keep your noses, ears and eyeballs peeled for more delightfully disgusting details to be revealed very soon.
Steven Leech, Curator of Exhibitions at the Science and Industry Museum, said:
'From sight and sound to some lesser-known senses, our bodies are truly sense-sational! Our brains rely on our senses to help us understand and explore the world around us. In this exhibition you will take part in an epic experiment that is bursting with brilliant brain science.
'Just like our previous Operation Ouch! exhibition, Brains, Bogies and You will offer a playful experience that builds confidence in young people who want to explore science. It's going to be a fantastic exhibition so get ready for the trip of a lifetime and come and get stuck into the science inside all of us.'
Dr Chris and Dr Xand said:
'Get ready to go on the adventure of a lifetime to find out all about our incredible senses and take a dive into the brain as we explore what makes our bodies so amazing.
'From earwax and bogies to brains and snot, make a date to be enjoyably disgusted and fascinated by this brand new exhibition at the Science and Industry Museum. It's going to be absolutely gross!'
Dr Ronx said:
'I can't wait for everyone to have a good poke around inside Dr Chris's brain with Dr Xand and me! It's going to be epic, discovering how our senses work in the most fun and gross ways possible with hands-on experiments and all kinds of adventures. Science has never been this fun (or this sticky). See you there!'
Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You is the second time that the hit CBBC show is being brought to life through an exhibition at the Science and Industry Museum. The exhibition builds on the huge success of Operation Ouch! Food, Poo and You, which closed earlier in 2024 and saw visitors dive headfirst into digestion, celebrate the amazing inner workings of the human body and shatter taboos around poo.
For Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You, visitors can expect even more fun, silly and sometimes gross experiences, amazing objects from the Science Museum Group's collection, and video appearances from world-renowned doctors that will guide audiences through this lively, interactive and playful adventure.
The exhibition is being produced by the Science and Industry Museum and developed in collaboration with BBC Children's and Education and Objective Media Group.

About the Science and Industry Museum
The Science and Industry Museum tells the story of where science met industry and the modern world began. Manchester was one of the first global industrial cities, and its epic rise, decline and resurrection has been echoed in countless other cities around the world. The museum's mission is to inspire all its visitors, including future scientists and inventors, with the story of how ideas can change the world, from the industrial revolution to today and beyond.
The Science and Industry Museum site is on the site of the Liverpool Road Station terminus of the Liverpool Manchester Railway, the world's first purpose-built passenger railway. Among its internationally significant buildings are the world's first passenger railway station and the oldest existing railway goods warehouse. In total there are two Grade I listed buildings and four Grade II listed buildings on the site.
The museum is currently undergoing a multi-million-pound regeneration project that will see brand new spaces opened and significant improvements made to some of its best-loved galleries.
The Science and Industry Museum is part of the Science Museum Group, a family of museums which also includes the Science Museum in London; the National Railway Museum in York and Shildon; and the Science and Media Museum in Bradford. The Science Museum Group is devoted to the history and contemporary practice of science, medicine, technology, industry and media. With five million visitors each year and an unrivalled collection, it is the most significant group of museums of science and innovation worldwide.
