The Research Centre study area is home to our archive of original source material and reference books, and is available by appointment for personal, professional and academic research.
The Research Centre study area is now open again to researchers wishing to use our archive and library collections.
To keep visitors and staff safe while we comply with COVID-19 guidance, you need to pre-book a ticket for your research slot.
Making a booking
Please email the Archives team to discuss your research plans. Research slots will normally be released 28 days in advance and your booking must be made at least 14 days before the date you would like to visit. A link to the booking page will be provided once we have confirmed your plans with you.
Appointments are available on Wednesdays only, 11.00–12.30, 13.30–15.00 and 15.30–16.30. Appointments are limited to one slot per person per day. If you think that you will need to request more than one research slot on the same day, please mention this when you email the Archives team to discuss your plans.
To comply with COVID-19 guidance, we can only accommodate two people at the same research desk if the researcher making the booking needs to be accompanied by someone from their household or support bubble for accessibility or safeguarding reasons.
You must also pre-book the archive material you want to consult. If you can, please tell us what you want to see when you first contact us. If this is not possible, when your booking is complete, the Archives team will contact you to find out what you want to see.
When you visit
Please be aware that, unless you are exempt, you must wear a face covering while working in the Research Centre study area. Please remember to bring a face covering with you.
Our visitor lockers are not currently in use. Please limit the number of personal items you bring with you to the Research Centre. You may bring a laptop or tablet, a phone or camera, a notepad and a pencil with you.
If you have an enquiry about the object collections, please email us at email@example.com. We aim to respond within 20 working days, but responses are currently taking a little longer.
