Summer fun at the museum

Rediscover the fun of summer at the Science and Industry Museum, which will be open every day throughout the holidays, from Saturday 24 July to Sunday 5 September, to provide a fun, safe place to keep the whole family entertained.

Super-sleuths of all ages can discover the fascinating world of codebreaking, ciphers and secret communications with our free must-see exhibition Top Secret: From ciphers to cyber security (on until 31 August). Unravel more science secrets with our expert Explainers and put your skills to the test with games and challenges.  

See science brought to life in front of your eyes in Experiment and explore Manchester's rich legacy of innovations, discoveries and ideas that changed the world in the Revolution Manchester gallery.  

Find out how the city's heritage is interwoven with the cotton industry in the Textiles Gallery. Pick up a free activity trail and guide yourself through the gallery with fun games and challenges. 

Plus, don’t miss the Manchester Science Festival Family Weekender (20–22 August) for special events and hands-on activities all about our changing climate and ideas for a better world.

A long-term, multi-million-pound restoration programme is underway to carry out crucial restoration work and reveal new spaces and perspectives for all visitors to enjoy, play and learn in.
